If you are a leader of a business group, corporation, educational, social or religious group, think of making Peace on Earth as a mission of your organization. An immediate question you may ask, may be, what Peace on Earth has to do with your venture, for example, a soap company, a restaurant, or a website developer.
POEM would argue that every product you manufacture, or every type of service your company provides is to fulfill one or other need of the society. You might have started it to make living for yourself, make profit and become rich. But the real fact is that your entity exists because the society needs your product or service. So if you decide to fulfill the need of the society, and your customers are satisfied, you grow.
You grow with the society. If you try to grow at the cost of the society and indulge in unethical practices, you will fail, if not today, tomorrow. Declaring to yourself that your organization’s mission is to promote peace, you will direct your operations to achieve peace, for yourself, your employees, shareholders, supplier’s distributors, and the society as a whole. You will refrain from unhealthy competition; concentrate on innovation, creativity and methods to improve productivity in order to supply product or service at competitive price. Your organization’s objectives will no longer be limited to make profit. Its goals will expand to provide high degree of satisfaction to your customers, employees, and all stake holders. You as, the owner or the shareholder becomes one of those stake holders and responsible member of the society whose common mission is PEACE. Then you grow with the society not at the cost of it.
You will refrain from adding any harmful chemicals in the soap you make, poisonous pesticides in your farm products, prohibited preservatives in the fruits and food you serve. Regardless of how small or big your venture is, you have something to do for the peaceful progress of the society.
Assuming partnership in the Mission for PEACE, you will gauge all your actions and business decisions against the standards to be maintained in conduct, behavior, performance, and quality, required for Peaceful coexistence and progress of the society. Join the POEM family.
