WE THE PEOPLE (OF INDIA)
Life is a precious gift, and to live it meaningfully, we must unite and work together under the banner of “WE THE PEOPLE.” This unity requires shedding divisive labels such as religion, caste, region of birth, or extreme nationalism. Instead, we must embrace our identity as emancipated, rational, and compassionate human beings.
Our ultimate goal is to evolve into a global sense of “WE THE PEOPLE”—a united humanity that transcends national and cultural boundaries. However, our journey begins by joining hands as members of the countries to which we belong by birth or domicile. This page is therefore named “WE THE PEOPLE (of India)” because the founders of POEM (People’s Organization for Equality and Mutuality) are of Indian origin. As our community grows to include people of other nationalities, we envision creating more ‘WE THE PEOPLE’ pages that reflect this spirit of global unity.
Throughout history, human suffering has been perpetuated by selfishness, exploitation, extreme nationalism, religious fanaticism, border disputes, casteism, racism, and wars. Despite the efforts of great leaders, nations, and organizations like the United Nations, these conflicts persist, with devastating effects. Recent examples include the Israel-Hamas-Hezbollah-Iran conflict and the Russia-Ukraine war—both of which threaten to escalate into global wars, holding humanity at gunpoint.
In light of these challenges, it is imperative for people worldwide to organize and stand together in the pursuit of peace and harmony. This page is a platform for readers and contributors to engage in meaningful discussions about the root causes of hatred, division, and conflict among individuals, communities, and nations. Together, we can propose actionable remedies for a better future.
Our Approach
At POEM, we base our discussions on a few fundamental principles:
- Empathy and Understanding: When analyzing the reasons for conflicts, we strive to identify with the parties involved—not necessarily agreeing with their actions but understanding their motivations and justifications.
- Belief in Human Goodness: We believe that all humans are inherently good and have an innate desire to live in harmony with others and with nature.
